Batson-Cook Construction

Project engineer

January 2023 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Cares about its employees and does not make life or simple things difficult. Very open to what your work/school schedule will be. Enthusiastic about you being there and they will actually put you to work.

What I wish was different

A little more one on one time with mentors. I know that it is hard though because they are working their full time job and have a lot of responsibilities.

Advice

You need to force yourself into situations to where you can ask questions. Its common for your supervisors to be very busy so you need to come up with questions to ask them and sometimes have to chase them down because it just gets so busy. Be prepared to work and not a coffee maker.

Pre-Construction Intern

May - August 2019 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

One of the best things about interning with Batson-Cook was being able to work on a little bit of everything. I worked mostly in the office, but on occasion, I was able to help out in the field and learn about the daily operations. Additionally, I was also able to see projects from several different perspectives ranging from the conceptual phase and all the way through final close-out. The experience I had with Batson-Cook has also helped me tremendously in my classes this semester and provided me a head start on my coursework.

Advice

If things seem to get slow, don't be afraid to ask around and see if there is anything you can help with. I found that when I asked around, there was always something new that I could learn.
