The museum is nestled in one of the most beautiful parts of California so I had the opportunity to bring students on hikes to the beach and historic bunkers. I was given the opportunity to manage groups of 15 transitional kindergartners with lots of space for creativity in teaching. The work environment was progressive in education, especially early childhood education, along with progressive with equity in education.
What I wish was different
I wish that I would have received more training specific to my position as a lead teacher instead of reciving training with both leads and co-teachers. It was difficult at times to know what my expectation was as a lead in a teaching relationship since we all got trained in on the same things.
Advice
Apply!! You will learn a lot and grow immensely as an instructor. Be ready to work and serve a diverse group since the museum attracts travelers from around the world and has scholarship programs to bring title A schools to the museum.
