I got to get hands-on experience with my state government. I got a lot of cool insight, like sitting in on committee hearings.
What I wish was different
I just wish they would have paid me.
Advice
I would advise students who are interested in local government and public policy to definitely try and intern for their state senators. It is great experience, even if you don't get paid.
