it provided me the opportunity to educate the next generation outside. Dive deep into the wilderness and connect with the natural world while gaining new knowledge. The staff community was incredible and I always felt supported.

What I liked

This is an amazing job that is so much fun! You are getting paid to be outside all of the time and meet some awesome campers and staff members. One of the big parts is also going on a canoe, backpacking, or kayaking trip! Definitely a really cool experience that I can't recommend more!

These summers on staff are the ones I look back at so much and cherish the memories! The skills that you learn while working will help with future employment so much!

What I liked

Camp Manitowish is really a community of people who all want each other to succeed. I had that feeling while being interviewed for the position. it was not an interrogation and waiting for you to slip up, but rather a conversation about how you function as a person and where you will fit best in the community. Everyone has a place in the Manitowish Experience :)

What I wish was different

Increased pay, but this job is more about the experience and the memories made than making bank over the summer.

Advice

Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and just express yourself! The more of yourself you bring to the table, the better the experience will be.

Summer Camp Counselor

What I liked

I loved the staff community! And lots of really cool camper interactions. I also got to have lots of outdoor experiences, got to spend lots of time canoeing and out in the woods. It is just such a great place to grow, and to work and challenge others.

What I wish was different

This job is incredible! SO much fun, and very memorable. The pay may not be great, but I still learned so many skills that will benefit me in my future employment.
