Camp Rockmont

Camp Counselor

May - August 2022 • Black Mountain, NC

What I liked

What I liked about this job was that for ten weeks in Black Mountain NC, I got to share the gospel with young men and that every day brought a different adventure and was fun.

What I wish was different

there is nothing I would change however I do tell you this make sure you are mentally and physically able to do this job because it is exceptionally challenging some days and can wear you out.

Advice

If you can do this job, it is enjoyable and a great time the staff is very kind and welcoming to you and the campers and it is a great time to get out of the world for the summer and just be a kid again and teach these young men about God and the Gospel.

Camp Counselor

May - August 2021 • Black Mountain, NC

What I liked

I liked being able to lead a cabin of kids through fun and challenging activities to help them grow in their faith, friendship, and appreciation of nature. I liked leading and playing tribal games to help the kids bond. I also liked having the opportunity to lead devotions to build their spirituality. I absolutely liked working with all of the staff members because they are like brothers and sisters to me. A deeper level of friendship and trust exists in this magical place.

What I wish was different

I wish the summer lasted longer and had more opportunities to grow with the kids in more unique ways. The campout could have been longer and more fun. All in all, the experience was wonderful.

Advice

Trust in the process and take a leap of faith. It is very rewarding to work for a summer camp. You are able to get paid to have fun and make new friends. That is good news!
