Camp Winadu

Camp Mom

June - August 2021 • Pittsfield, MA

What I liked

I loved getting to interact with campers and fellow counselors from all over the world. You truly build relationships with the campers and it is awesome to watch them succeed or develop new interests in sports/activities over the summer. The camp ran smoothly even when difficult situations arose and there was never a dull day, each day brought something fun and exciting.

What I wish was different

There really is nothing I would change about my experience.

Advice

The days are long but the weeks are short, put yourself out there and truly take the time to talk and play with the boys, you can learn just as much from them as you teach them.

General Counselor

What I liked

The community aspect. Summer camp is like its own little ecosystem. Hiccups come up, but the directors are great at what they do. Everyone plays their part to experience a magical summer. I also loved the opportunity it gave me. That is, meeting new people from all over the country and world, and allowing for situations that force myself to grow in my professional career and as an individual.

What I wish was different

I lost a few boxers in laundry, lol. I guess that answers the question.

Advice

Allow yourself to open up. It will be overwhelming at points, you will feel emotions you have never felt before, but take it all in. If given the opportunity to step out of your comfort zone, do it and don't look back.
