Cape Cod 5

Information Security Intern

May - August 2022 • Hyannis, MA

What I liked

The culture here is amazing; I always felt included and listened to. Everyone I've met here is very welcoming and friendly too. In terms of the internship, I was given plenty of support while also some freedom to learn and work on my own. I also worked on some projects that were important for the team (rather than being "busy work"). The hybrid work structure was very convenient and gave me plenty of flexibility each week. Finally, the intern program here is great; you get to hear from many of the managers and top execs. It's very informative and allows you to make connections with people you might not otherwise, such as the CEO.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been a little bit busier/had some more responsibilities - although I understand the potential risks of giving temporary interns a lot of control over important security procedures.

Advice

Take advantage of the many connections you can make in the internship program. Go to the talks and workshops, talk to your coworkers and bosses, and sign up for the many volunteering opportunities.

Retail Intern

May - August 2018 • Chatham, MA

What I liked

I loved working with older people who wanted me to learn and succeed. I also enjoyed learning entirely new skills and having a job experience I'd never encountered before.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have stayed longer! I also wish the company had a further reach. It was a small network of banks in a tourism-based area.

Advice

Don't be afraid to try something new. I never thought I'd spend time working in banking. The new experience taught me what I like to do, as well as what I don't want to do in future careers.
