R&D Engineer Intern

May 2019 • Hazelwood, MO

What I liked

My boss, Meghan Ruiz, truly made a difference in my whole experience. She taught me multiple lessons while making me feel valuable and appreciated. I liked working with multiple departments like Regulatory Affairs and Quality. I had freedom to work on my own project and set my own deadlines. I was treated with respect by all my team members and recognized by my work.

What I wish was different

There were a couple times that I did not have a lot of direction on what to do next, so I had to wait for a chance to talk to my boss to get a new task. So I wish there had been a layout of what I was going to be doing organized already before I had my first day. But other than that, I was always busy and learning new things.

Advice

Go to all the meetings you're invited and take notes. Make good use of your time and don't be afraid to ask for more to do. If you are no able to carry too many tasks at the end, they will help you out and appreciate your enthusiasm. Always get there earlier if possible, and don't be afraid to talk to other engineers, they will take you seriously.
