What I liked

My manager was so supportive in all of my projects and I was able to accomplish a variety of different projects based on my interests and backgrounds. We had a lot of professional and personal development opportunities through the program and were encouraged to network with company executives throughout the internship. College Relations was extremely engaged in making sure all the interns were constantly taken care of and the interview processes went smoothly. Couldn't have had a better experience.

What I wish was different

I wish it wasn't a virtual experience. I was able to go to Ohio to visit the office and some of my fellow interns on my own and it was such an amazing time.

Advice

Be curious and ask as many questions as you can. The more you take the initiative to network and collaborate on projects with interns or other senior level staff, the more you'll get out of your internship experience.

What I liked

Incredibly welcoming culture! Everyone you meet is open, candid, and more than willing to help answer any questions you may have. Great place to not just earn a paycheck, but also make a significant positive impact on the world surrounding you. This impact goes beyond the work itself - Cardinal Health is incredibly invested in community service, DE&I, and development of its people. Even in the virtual internship environment we were in this summer, I have felt extremely well-connected to people throughout the company. Upper-level executives are approachable too, even inviting questions and interactions from our intern class on multiple occasions! I can't say enough good things about this company, I had a great experience!

What I wish was different

I just wish this internship had been in person. However, Cardinal Health's College Relations team did an amazing job at making this remote internship as personal as possible!

Advice

You can find work anywhere. What sets Cardinal Health apart is the well-rounded, diverse, welcoming culture. As welcoming as the culture is, though, you get out what you put in. I would encourage anyone considering an internship with Cardinal Health to try to reach out and network with as many people here as you can. The more immersed you get in the culture, the work, and the company as a whole, the more positive your experience will be. Just be yourself, let your personality show, and know that you will be welcomed with open arms.

Tax Analyst Intern

What I liked

You are exposed to a lot of different work within the various tax departments. Every two weeks you receive a new job and get to learn new skills. I was able to learn a lot and implement a lot of accounting skills, excel skills, and software skills that I have learned in class. Cardinal is a great place to jump-start your future.

There was lots of opportunity for professional development and growth. Everyone seemed very invested in intern success.

What I wish was different

Most interns were assigned to work with a team of people but I was one of the few that was just on my own.

Advice

Seek out a new/additional project if you don't feel like you have enough work to do.

I loved the people, I loved the work I was doing in computer programming and I loved the company's mission and ideas.

What I wish was different

I was working in a building with only two other interns and I wish I had been able to be around more interns

Use your resources to network , ask questions, and don't be afraid to take on a project that seems too hard for you because people will help.

Make sure you get face time with your boss to ensure he/she A.) remembers who you are in the sea of other employees and B.) allows you to build a network for future endeavors and employment

I like that I was doing hands on work. As a student tax analyst, I was preparing $50 million tax returns.

What I wish was different

I wish I stayed up in Dublin Ohio a little longer.

Bring your Accounting 2101 book with you to help with the internship.

Student Tax Analyst

What I liked

Incredibly flexible schedule with the ability to work remotely from anywhere that has wifi. The supervisors were wonderful and caring and always willing to answer questions! The best experience I've had in my collegiate career thus far!

What I wish was different

There is literally nothing I would change about this program!

Advice

Never be afraid to ask questions, but make sure you exhaust all possible resources before doing so. You never want to seem like you've given up / haven't tried your best on your own.

Tax Analyst Intern

What I liked

I loved getting to know the people I worked with. Interns from BYU, University of Georgia, and Ohio State came to the Cardinal Health campus for a week for training, and from there we returned to our campuses to work remotely. I enjoyed the flexibility of the job and the interesting projects I was assigned.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to continue working for them through the school year. The internship was designed to last through fall semester as well, but they want their interns to work at least 20 hours a week, and I couldn't do more than 10 with my class schedule.

Advice

I would advise everyone to go to the info sessions on campus and reach out to the recruiter. It was an amazing opportunity that has already put me ahead in recruiting for my next internship.
