Carpenter Construction

Carpenter Assistant

June - August 2019 • Moundridge, KS

What I liked

I loved being exposed to completely new things such as job sites and the construction process which I really didn’t know much about. It was very pleasing to find a job that was really beneficial, but also enjoyable despite the connotation that is often attributed to the construction industry. I also really enjoyed the team and family that I made at Carpenter Construction and the head start I gained as a result of my experience in the company.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish had been different was the amount of time I could spend there. I wish I would have been able to work here for a longer period of time to see the complete construction process from the very beginning to the definite end.

Advice

I would strongly advise somebody to not be afraid of a new job and to be careful not to “find reasons not to get a certain job” because a description is simply a vague explanation of a job and may not always be able to truly give you an idea of what that job is like. Also, don’t make pay your top priority, while it is very important, often times some people can be discouraged simply because the pay isn’t ideal. There will always be a million reasons not to do something, so it is imperative that if you decide not to do something, that you have a very valid reason for not doing it.
