Children of Promise, NYC

Camp Counselor

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The campers were a lot of fun to work with, they have a lot of energy and they kept me motivated to help them grow. The program provided a lot fun trips and activities to keep them busy. Most situations were dealt with professionally.

What I wish was different

It was a good summer job, there's nothing I wish to be different.

Advice

Camp counselors should have a lot of patience when dealing with the kids in this program, in order to make a difference in their lives one must set a good example.

Education Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

You'll work with some of the kindest, brightest kids you've ever met. The organization is filled with so much love, and everyone brings their best for the kids.

What I wish was different

Communication between the administration and staff was often slow or nonexistent. While this rarely affected the kids' experiences, it got to be annoying over the summer.

Advice

Throughout the summer, I worked long hours, and had over an hour commute each way. Nevertheless, the kids make the experience worth every minute. They bring love and energy. Your job is to return that love and energy and make their camp experience as great as possible.
