China Horizons

English Teacher

August - October 2019 • Zhenjiang, Jiangsu

What I liked

Living China was an experience I will never forget. I absolutely loved teaching English to my small kindergarten students. The culture, food, and people helped change my view on the world.

What I wish was different

I wish that I did not have to leave early. All of the teachers in my program had to return home earlier than plan due to visa problems. It was one of the most stressful, scary, and sad times of my life.

Advice

Do it anyway. Don’t be so scared to live your life and get out of your comfortable, but sealed corner of your world. Experience other places, love others for their differences. It can be scary, hard, and sometimes even dangerous... just do it anyway.

Office worker and mentor

April - November 2019 • Rexburg, ID

What I liked

I love my time at China Horizon, I have been able to gain valuable skills working there. I like my coworkers and the environment is very relaxed.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had more face to face interaction with the people that we were preparing to send to teach in China. It was difficult to find a time that would work with everyone's schedule.

Advice

I would advise others to work somewhere they loved working at. I feel very lucky to work at China Horizons, there are times that work is the highlight of my day. I love China and helping other people go and have similar experiences that I did in China is very rewarding.
