I liked working with the psychiatric population as well as the nursing staff. I felt like I was an integral and important part of the healthcare team as well as a valued member.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more of an opportunity to see the nursing actions of the job. As this was a true job as opposed to an internship, I had a lot of work to do and not a lot of time to see other aspects of the healthcare team.
Advice
One piece of advice I would share is to have an open mind about your experience. Working with psychiatric patients can bring unique challenges and rewards.
