Citizens Bank

What I liked

I liked that I was on a team and had a presentation. We were able to connect with people in other departments in order to create this project. it was mainly focused on fintech companies such as SoFi and Cross River in order to implement some of their strategies for Citizens. We received feedback and were able to present it to the CEO, Bruce Van Saun, and the CFO, John Woods, who also gave us feedback and advise that was extremely helpful to my whole internship.

What I wish was different

When it came to my individual manager, there were many communication issues. Our scheduling was not lining up and she was very busy all the time so when it came to me helping in that area, I was not doing things that were challenging or new. Although it is difficult to sit down with someone and explain how to do it when she can just do it herself quicker, there was not a lot I learned from this. If there are managers who like to work on their own or do not need help, I think there are other people that could have made good use out of be being an intern instead.

Advice

I would say that everyone there is trying to help you connect with people, so use it to your advantage. This internship was all in person, so it was a big change to going from all online school, to all in person work. It helped me in terms of dressing business professional everyday and getting there on time, going to meetings in person and meeting them face-to-face was extremely helpful. In this case, I am glad I went there and got the experience I did but there were times that it was difficult to feel as if I had a place in the office.
