City of Austin Americorps VISTA

About City of Austin Americorps VISTA

The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Americorps VISTA

May 2019 - August 2019 Austin, TX
“Being an Americorps VISTA was a great opportunity for me to get involved with both the Americorps organization and the City of Austin as a whole. I learned a lot about how the City's Public Health department is run and met many people with whom I can network in the future. My job at a community center allowed me to directly connect with so many individuals who are facing poverty, homelessness, and hunger across the city, and revived my desire to fight for social and economic equality in Austin.”
