About City of Sacramento 4th "R" / ASES Programs

The City of Sacramento Expanded Learning Department is compromised of 4th "R" (licensed youth recreation program), ASES (education enriched after school program), and Summer Camps for Kindergartner through eighth grade. These programs foster a positive and safe environment for children to grow and develop. The City of Sacramento is seeking staff to help implement our vision, mission, be a positive role model and to have fun!

All Sacramento children and youth are valued and reach their fullest potential.

success in education
• Build 21st century skills including leadership, workforce development, life, resiliency, and
social-emotional skills
• Provide opportunities for young people to become active and engaged community
• Create a safe environment, both physically and emotionally, in all settings, honoring culture
and community
• Promote equity, justice, and accountability with a concerted application of resources
toward those youth in greatest need

“This job was my favorite experiences to date. I was very close to the almost 80 children we had, and especially one who had autism. He really shaped my want to go into special education. Everyday, I was in charge of art projects, indoor group games, and outdoor play. Everyday was different, some days would run smoothly and others there was drama between friend groups and a kid fell off the monkey bars. These days were the most trying of days, but really made me feel like me being there was really important. ”
