Assistant Store Manager

What I liked

I love working in retail because it allows me to work on both my social skills and meet new people everyday. Theres a lot to do at the job so I am constantly learning new things and challenging myself to untimely make me a better worker and person.

What I wish was different

I do have to work a lot and there are a lot of stuff I have to get done, so it is very time consuming. It could be very stressful at times to make sure you were greeting everyone, getting stock done, doing piercings, and all of the above. But that's when I'd have to take a step back and refocus myself.

Advice

Don't ever think you aren't good enough for a position. There are always going to be things you don't know, but making sure you are the one to volunteer and put yourself out there, whether you do the task right or not, it means more that you tried rather than waiting for someone else to.

What I liked

Get to interact with mostly friendly customers, customer traffic is normally very slow depending on day, get to wear merchandise and use employee discounts to purchase, learned how to pierce ears.

What I wish was different

The training was very short and I didn't feel totally ready to run the store alone, we were always short on keys and had to do a lot of extra work to move them around, and had high, almost unachievable goals for daily sales, and guidelines for interacting and selling to customers felt very forced.

Advice

It's not always worth the money but if you can get hired as a 3rd key you get strong managerial experience for your resume
