Video Production & eLearning - Full-Time Intern

May - August 2019 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

My time at Code42 during the summer was an excellent opportunity. The internship program was robust and consisted of various events, talks by department leads and executives over lunch, and mandatory meetings that allowed us to meet other departments one-on-one. Additionally, we were assigned a mentor that helped us along the way and had personal relationships with our manager and team. Code42 was a fantastic experience that allowed me to grow my skills while playing an integral role in the education team specifically.

What I wish was different

Honestly, the internship program at Code42 was outstanding and I don't have any criticism.

Advice

A key part of any position within any company is knowing and comprehending the values. Strong values that are understood and practiced by all employees will contribute towards a positive and motivated atmosphere where all are contributing their best work.

Software Developer Intern

May - August 2018 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

Lots of hands-on working with technology, was able to touch a lot of aspects of the software on the web-development side. LOTS of free snacks and coffee.

What I wish was different

Interns were fairly sectioned off in their teams. I didn't have any chances to work on projects with other interns, which would have been helpful for learning in my opinion.

Advice

It's a good place to get a lot of experience. The company encourages you to learn a lot and make lots of connections, and it's probably worthwhile to lean into that attitude.

Cloud Operations Engineer Intern

May - August 2018 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

The office and culture at Code42 are great. There are many perks, including free snack, drinks, and coffee. The office updated and modern, and centrally located downstairs. There are minority affinity groups, with monthly meets. The company emphasizes wellness, so there is yoga twice a week, meditation rooms, and a free gym membership.

What I wish was different

The process for being asked to stay on was very unclear and hidden behind red tape for most of the summer.

Advice

Take advantage of the company's positive attitude towards networking in the company, and meet people from different departments and teams.
