Community Impact

About Community Impact

Community Impact is Texas’ fastest-growing news organization and the most widely distributed news source for relevant and useful information at the community level. Since its launch in 2005, Community Impact has restructured an antiquated model—the community newspaper—and turned it into an essential tool by providing readers with useful, informative news.

Owners John and Jennifer Garrett launched the first edition of Community Impact with three full-time employees covering Round Rock and Pflugerville. The company now has more than 200 employees with coverage in more than 60 cities and communities throughout Texas. With a total mailed circulation now reaching over 2.5 million, more residents receive a Community Impact than any other publication in Texas.

Still independently owned and locally operated, our mission is to build communities of informed citizens and thriving businesses through the collaboration of a passionate team.

Audience Engagement Intern

“Working in journalism at a local level is incredible because you really get to learn what is important to the people around you. Additionally, the newspaper gave interns many opportunities to explore their own projects and publish their own content.”
