I really enjoyed my time getting to know my cohorts and learning new skills through the lens of a non-profit organization. I worked on policy research in the Illinois General Assembly and planning civil engagement and public outreach events.
What I wish was different
The organization was a bit understaffed for the undertaking it had and the large community it serves, so there were some disorganization and productivity issues.
Advice
Don't be afraid to be a self-starter and pursue projects that excite you.
