What I liked
I certainly was not micromanaged. I had to really take ownership of my project, which at first was stressful since my managers kept saying how important my project was. Ultimately, I got to end the summer with a product and presentation that I'm proud of and will be used in regular activities by my department.
What I wish was different
I wish there was more training in the beginning to get everyone settled. It took a while to get fully situated with the necessary software and information.
Advice
Your assignment may be vague - but that's only cause your managers wanna see where you take it. So just run with it and keep checking in to make sure you're not totally derailed. But don't worry about doing something "the way they wanted it" cause they probably haven't thought it through that much . After all, that's your job. And it's important to take initiative - ask questions, nag people if necessary.
