I loved how there were a whole variety of tasks that I got to engage in. Additionally, the office did a great job of providing in-person opportunities despite some restrictions.
What I wish was different
I would have liked to talk to constituents more because it is nice to find out what people really care about. It was a lot more difficult to engage with the public as a member of the district office due to the COVID restrictions.
Advice
Engage with your supervisors because they often have the most to offer in terms of advice and making you feel comfortable in the work environment.

Summer Intern
June - September 2020 • Irvine, CA
What I liked
I liked that the staff were really trusting with the interns in their contributions. I got to write appointment letters, plan an interview with a student who has made a significant community contribution, and also organize a meeting between the assemblywoman and the beauty industry. I also was able to write an op-ed to be published too.
