Each Green Corner

Content Manager

June - September 2022 • San Carlos, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed the flexible work schedule and the ability to schedule my workload and posting schedule ahead of time. The instructions for each task were explained in documents that were easily accessible, which made organizing my projects easier.

What I wish was different

Since the internship was entirely remote, I did not get to experience a sense of community or bond with the other interns. I wish that there was more engagement between the content management position and the other interns, who worked on teams.

Advice

Although not everyone is passionate about community gardens, EGC is an excellent example of an organized small-scale nonprofit. EGC provides good work experience and a window into the world of nonprofits. I would advise interns to think about the community they are serving and how their work experience can transfer into future jobs at nonprofits.

Development Lead

December 2021 - September 2022 • San Carlos, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed getting my foot in the door working at an established external organization.

What I wish was different

I wish I was trained on more budgeting, financials, and operations.

Advice

I would say to work as long and as hard as you are willing until you no longer feel you can move up in the organization or until the organization no longer can help you succeed in your goals.
