What I liked

Involvement in multiple facets of corporate banking from sitting in on calls, to Q&A sessions, everyone is very willing to help and answer questions. I was able to gain experience in financial spreading, the underwriting process and created a 400+ contact list for the ABL division, securing several meetings with potential prospects as well.

What I wish was different

The pandemic made it challenging to be further involved in certain aspects which impacted exposure to the full experience.

Advice

It’s great for anyone who wants a inside look at corporate banking whether in sales, portfolio management, business development, HR or analyst positions.

Commercial Banking Management Trainee Rotational Program

What I liked

Training program provides great opportunity to learn about commercial banking from all different areas, from business development to operations to credit analysis. Program includes strong exposure to key East West executives and our strategic initiatives. Program organizers are flexible and happy to accommodate specific areas of interest of our trainees.

What I wish was different

Different teams sometimes have different expectation of the level of responsibility that can be given to a trainee. Self starter mind-set and willingness to work is important!

Advice

Be willing to reach out to your managers during each rotation, as well as the talented program organizers in HR, to express your specific interests. Be proactive!
