The employees at Edward Jones are all very friendly and inclusive. This internship also allowed me to network and find a position in the firm that fits my skill set.
What I wish was different
Nothing, I think the experience met my expectations of participating in an internship at an investment firm.
Advice
One piece of advice is to really put yourself out there. This experience will take you where you want to go if you pursue the opportunities that are available.

Financial Advisor Intern
June - August 2019 • Hurricane, UT
What I liked
I got to talk to many financial advisors including some of the regional leaders. I got to see different ways that each financial advisor chose to organize their business, and I even had a survey project where I got practice knocking on doors and introducing myself to various people. I learned that the relationships you build are very important, and the finance stuff can be taught.

Financial Advisor Intern
June 2019 • Slippery Rock, PA
What I liked
I think Edward Jones, unlike some other mutual fund / financial services companies, is exceptionally professional. They put you in a position to learn and succeed rather than try to push product on people all day.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have done some prelicensing work in order to drive more of a tangible impact.
Advice
I got the internship by reaching out to a stranger to ask him about what his career was like. It pays to take extra steps to learn about potential careers and roles.

What I liked
I liked the people I worked with and learned from. Made the experience enjoyable. I also liked that I was given real work to do.

Advice
Ask to shadow people if you are interested in seeing other areas of the firm -- people are more than willing to meet with you!

What I liked
The company and the work environment
What I wish was different

Advice
It’s a great, flexible job with an awesome company, it is not usually enough hours on its own as an On-Call but full time would be good.

Branch Office Intern
May - August 2019 • Aurora, CO
What I liked
I enjoyed using the skills I have learned as an accounting student and applying them every single day and showcasing them to my employer.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had applied sooner! Edward Jones is such a great company and they were so excited to work with a Lindenwood student. My recruiter was actually a Lindenwood graduate!
Advice
If you do not know what you want to do, then try a few internships out. You have about three or four summers to try three or four completely different industries out. I never thought I would do anything relating to finance and working with Edward Jones has definitely made that industry more interesting to me. The actual business itself and the corporate culture are all things that cannot truly be explained, you have to experience it to understand.
