What I liked

I liked the growth opportunities EisnerAmper gave. You make of what you want in the internship by asking questions because you're going to get stumped countless of times once you start. Everyone is genuinely trying to help you learn, too. The work itself can be challenging, but that's what helps you learn more in the long run. 9/10 experience.

What I wish was different

The training involved for particularly the tax internship wasn't helpful as it should. To be fair, EA uses a lot of different software for particular things. Mostly, I was learning how to use the software along the way during my internship, but training hardly prepared me to know if I was doing things correct.

Advice

I would say to don't be scared to ask questions and always give effort to try and learn anything and everything. There is so much to learn with EA.

What I liked

Overall, the internship was a great experience. I enjoyed having the opportunity to work on a variety of different tax returns with the full-time staff and to learn what busy season was like for tax accountants. As for the culture of the office, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Despite it being busy season, the staff members were easy to reach and happy to help whenever questions or issues arose.

What I wish was different

Advice

One piece of advice I would share for this internship is to attend all the events and talk to as many people as possible. You will be working with a lot of different people throughout the internship and getting to know them early on makes for a great experience.

What I liked

Been with my office for roughly a year and four months, so I've gotten to know my coworkers and the company well. Everyone is helpful and genuine, if you have a question they will find the time to help you. During my internship I was given actual tax returns to do, which is something that I appreciated. There is much to gain with an internship here, ranging from technical know-how to developing analytical skills. You will learn both on the job and by going to some of their training sessions.

What I wish was different

Advice

When you start the internship you will probably feel overwhelmed. Know that it is not the job, it is just a new experience. Give it some time and you will improve and feel more comfortable.

What I liked

I really like working with International Tax team. Everyone was open to share their experience and teach whatever we found difficult. They made it very easy and welcoming environment especially for newcomers like me.

What I wish was different

Being a part-time intern, I wish I would have been informed about busy workdays of the week. I scheduled my classes for Tuesday and Thursday, while most of the events at the firm happened on those days.

What I liked

Everyone was super friendly! Very supportive environment with plenty of opportunities to learn from reviewers. It is inevitable to run into something that leaves you clueless, but the people here are always glad to help. From being assigned buddies to catered lunches, your development and experience are definitely prioritized.

What I wish was different

I think the trainings were extensive but difficult to apply. I believe offering more simulation-type trainings would be beneficial and allow for a smoother transition. However, that did not hinder the experience much and you still get to learn a lot once you start working on actual returns.

Advice

Do what you can to make use of the resources! This includes networking with the professionals and getting their advice as well as making use of things like the LinkedIn Learnings.

What I liked

I liked being able to ask questions and learn the procedures of filing different returns. The West Palm Beach office is a collaborative team which I feel is important when assigned work to do because it gave me comfortability in asking questions and learning how to become better at preparing returns.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to attend the Florida intern event where they made pizzas. I sadly was not able to attend because I had class that day. I also wish this internship had more exposure to other aspiring accountants in West Palm Beach since I was the only intern assigned to this office.

Advice

Being in person helps in learning the procedures from co-workers since they can visually see your willingness to learn and will make it easier for you to understand.

What I liked

I like the people and the culture here. Very friendly and people are willing to offer help. There are clearly no issues of communications during the experience. The culture is set to embrace. You can have the chance to talk to the upper management freely when you walk by their desk.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship can be longer so that I get to put more of the knowledge I have gained into more detail live practices.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask a ton of questions.

What I liked

I liked experiencing the Office culture. Everyone that I worked with was beyond patient and helpful as I have little to no experience with audit. They set you up for success from arrival with multiple people you can reach out to for help. You are hands on doing client work with your teams.

Be prepared to learn. You are expected to know nothing, and everyone is prepared to teach you.

What I liked

This internship allowed me to see a realistic preview of what it was like to work in HR (especially recruiting)! I learned so much during my time and was so empowered to be heard, have my own ideas, and always did meaningful work. I've loved my internship and have been working at P&N for over a year now!

Advice

The piece of advice I would share is not to feel like you are an intern and always share your ideas! I was timid at first, thinking I was only there to learn and observe, but my supervisor told me I was hired for my thoughts and opinions and they always wanted to hear what I had to say. I felt so appreciated throughout the internship!

Virtual events across US and India have been amazing and insightful. Broad networking and great platforms!

What I liked

All the amazing people! Everyone I have met has been so welcoming and supportive throughout the entire internship. The company-wide culture that EA promotes, and implements is amazing and is evident in the work environment. You are always encouraged to ask questions and explore all desired fields of accounting. Besides the amazing people, the experience and knowledge gained from this internship had been enormous. The auditing staff provided us with a space to learn and challenged us to explore all aspects of auditing fundamentals through a real-world, hands-on approach. Something unique to the EA internship is the vast diversity in the client work you get to be a part of. Every day is filled with hands-on experience that is unique and client focused. This internship has given me the skills and confidence to foster a career in public accounting. I recommend this internship to anyone wanting to gain experience working at a firm that prioritizes its employees. In the short time I interned, the La Jolla office became like a family to me and created a safe learning space.

What I wish was different

The only aspect of the internship that I would change is the length of the internship. It was only eight weeks from beginning to end, making it feel like you were leaving right as you got the hang of it. I wish we would've had the opportunity to extend our internship as it would have given us a better opportunity to showcase our new skills and knowledge.

Advice

Come in with an open mind and be ready to learn everything you need to know. I came in without prior experience and was always prepared for client work. Your team will train you on all you have to know. It will be a learning curve so remember to take notes, be patient with yourself, and appreciate all the support you receive.

What I liked

I enjoyed my time here because of numerous reasons, but the one that I loved the most was that everyone is so nice and welcoming. We also had the chance to work with interns in different offices, which was also fun because I got to meet people that I would have never had the chance to. In terms of the workload, it was fun and interesting to learn more about the company and what they do. It was nice having a staff be assigned as our buddy, as they were super helpful with the transition.

What I wish was different

I wish that the internship was a tad bit longer. I think that 8 weeks was a little too short, because in-between the trainings, assignments, and client work, there was not much time to learn and experience as much as we could have. It was doable, but it would have been nice if we had an extra 2 weeks or so.

Advice

Ask questions! Everyone was so nice so they never made me feel bad about asking all the questions I had. It helped me learn better.

What I liked

I absolutely loved the amazing team that were so welcoming and kind to help whenever I had questions. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go into the field on an Audit project, which I really enjoyed working so closely with the client and team and experience real world auditing. This internship was such a valuable experience because we were exposed to a handful of different tasks involved in audits, in addition to performing many accounting tasks for clients, which allowed us to expend our knowledge and abilities. While the knowledge I gained from this internship is definitely a highlight, the people here are the best part. I looked forward to coming into the office each day and working with an incredible group that genuinely want to see you succeed. The culture here is like becoming part of a family, and I never felt like I was coming into work because of how much I enjoyed my time here.

What I wish was different

I wish this internship was longer! The 8 weeks of this program flew by so fast that I wish we were given a couple extra weeks before wrapping up. I think interns would benefit with a longer program to take advantage of the time they have to continue strengthening their skills and helping the office on projects/ tasks.

Advice

If you are coming into this internship afraid that you won't know anything, or if you feel like you have imposter syndrome, that's ok! You aren't the only one, and you will soon find out that you will have all the resources available to you in order to succeed. And don't be afraid to ask questions! You are there to learn, so be like a sponge and apply what you are taught during your time as an intern. Also, if you do not have any work, take initiative and ask for some!

What I liked

I felt very supported throughout the whole internship. It was highly encouraged that we ask questions and take advantage of our resources, so I felt very comfortable reaching out and asking for help/ clarification on things. I also liked how we got to do a lot of client work therefore we got experience with doing tasks that current staff are working on.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship would've been longer, we had a lot of trainings, and it would've been nice to work on more client work given so much training.

Advice

Ask questions and network with people! Everyone is willing to share about their experiences and offer guidance as long as you ask. The staff here are very knowledgeable and can offer a lot of help!

What I liked

I really like that everyone is open to help you whenever you have questions. The atmosphere is very professional and mellow. I personally find that to fit my work-life balance that I am looking for as I begin my career in accounting.

Summer Tax Intern

What I liked

I thoroughly enjoyed my time as an intern at EisnerAmper! The in-depth training process helped in preparing myself to work in this role. I was able to gather technical knowledge on how to prepare complex tax returns that is not seen in a classroom. Working with EisnerAmper also allowed me to work on a team of interns from multiple offices across the nation. It was an intriguing aspect as I got to make close colleagues here in La Jolla, but also in New York and New Jersey. With this team, we were able to build on more skills through our group presentation to Partners of the firm.

What I wish was different

One thing I wish had been different was the timeline of the internship. I would have liked to have begun client work a little earlier in the internship.

Advice

A piece of advice I would share is to keep trying! Mistakes and errors happen while on the job, but learning to adapt and correct the errors is the part where growth through this experience truly occurs.

What I wish was different

I would have preferred training sessions to be shorter. There was a bit too much training done without application of what we learned. The internship went by too fast! The 8 weeks flew by, and I think a 10- or 12-week internship could have been more helpful from a learning and growth perspective.

Advice

You will get what you make of the internship - get involved to get to know people and don't be afraid to asks countless questions when you're stuck.

What I liked

This is my second time interning with the firm, and my experience was as phenomenal as the last time! Internships can often be intimidating, but at EA, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Each intern is assigned a buddy who helps navigate the intern process and answers any questions you might have. The employees are all friendly, and there are ample mentoring opportunities. The people here genuinely care about you as a person and your growth; I felt incredibly supported. Moreover, there are plenty of opportunities to socialize and bond with the other interns through promotion ceremonies, volunteering, catered lunches, or client visits in beautiful Southern California, La Jolla. I made multiple new friends and was excited to come into the office every morning. Aside from the culture, this internship provided a fantastic learning opportunity. I had the chance to work with IRS Forms 1040 (Individual), 1041 (Estates and Trusts), and 568 (SMLLC). This helped me expand my tax knowledge, which is useful both for work and everyday life. Each return is unique, so every day presented a new learning opportunity. Beyond accounting, interns also had the opportunity to work on general business skills through a group project and presentation to firm partners. Furthermore, EA provides access to free LinkedIn learning classes and certificates, something that is usually a paid subscription.

What I wish was different

I thought the internship was amazing overall. The only thing I wish were different was the length of the internship, as it is only 8 weeks long.

Advice

Do your best to step out of your comfort zone! It can be daunting to reach out to managers or seniors with questions or to socialize. However, the people at EA actively encourage you to learn and grow.
