About Evansville Water and Sewer Utility

The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility serves approximately 63,000 customers throughout the Evansville, IN metro area. The Water Department maintains the 60 MGD treatment plant, with 1,000 miles of water mains, 6,000 fire hydrants, 7 booster stations and 8 storage tanks. Our laboratory tests the water within the plant and throughout the distribution system daily to ensure the quality meets or exceeds all federal and state water quality standards. The Sewer Department conveys wastewater to two wastewater treatment plants for processing before discharging the treated effluent. The Sewer Department maintains the plants along with over 800 miles of sewers and 92 lift stations. The Project Management Office has over $50 million in Capital Projects a year. The PMO is responsible for the projects from conception, scope, survey, design, bidding, construction, to project acceptance. The Engineering Department inspects and analyzes all of our assets for required maintenance and project scopes. The EWSU employs interns with a wide range of potential experiences for various majors including Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, Health and Safety, Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, and Computer Sciences.
