Fairbanks Morse Defense

Quality Engineer Intern

June - August 2021 • Beloit, WI

What I liked

I loved the work environment. Everyone there was willing to answer questions and help me when I needed it. There was also a museum of completed engines so when I couldn't picture a product's set-up, I could walk to the museum and see it in person. I also loved not sitting at a desk all day. I got to spend about 1/3 of my day talking to the technicians on the floor to see how I could help improve the work environment for them. I also got to see the parts in person on the floor which helped me decide if the parts met the specifications required.

What I wish was different

I wish it was closer to where I was living. Driving 1 hour each way and taking 6 credits over the summer was hard.

Advice

Try a variety of internships. This will help you find the best fit for a full time job after graduation.
