The bite of an infected mosquito, tick or other disease carrying insect may result in a life-changing illness, such as West Nile virus or Lyme disease. The Health Department’s Disease Carrying Insects Program works to minimize the threat of mosquito-borne and tick-borne diseases through an integrated approach to pest management that includes active monitoring, control measures, and public outreach and education to help protect county residents. Preventing mosquito bites and tick bites is the best way to avoid the diseases they may carry.
