I really enjoyed the environment I worked in. Everyone in my department was extremely welcoming and amenable when I had questions, especially my direct supervisor! Aside from the work that I contributed to, my favorite part of this internship was the fact that my time at this agency fell during Pride Month and an agency-wide community day. There were events that celebrated both, the agency-wide community day specifically hosting an event that showed all walks of life as well as a booth-like table for different communities. I personally helped set up and shed some light on the Hispanic community at Farm Credit Administration (FCA).
What I wish was different
For me, I wish I had the opportunity to work remotely at some times. As a college student pursuing a full-time degree and a double minor it was a little difficult during classes to make the commute to and from work to be fully in person. However, that was not something that was up for debate because of clearance and needing to be connected to a secure or agency-wide network.
Advice
As with all internships, they are shorter than you think -- take advantage of everything and ask tons of questions. Ask for more work, how you can be of better help, and think about what you want to get out of your time as an intern!
