FilmNation Entertainment

Physical Production and Post Intern

June - August 2022 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved working with people from all over the production line and other departments. As the production intern, I got to see the day to day routines of editors, VFX artists, directors, mixers, and observe the legal, delivery, and marketing departments. I got so much experience and was exposed to dozens of career paths in my chosen field.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to go to the actual sets where the films were being shot. Unfortunately, due to covid, interns visiting set wasn't a possibility.

Advice

I would say go in with an open mind and be ready to try anything. I was able to do a lot of exciting stuff outside my job description because I was always offering to do more.

Development and Production Intern

January - April 2022 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed working in such a close-knit and professional environment. It was my first time working for a production company in Hollywood.

What I wish was different

I wish it was a Hybrid opportunity. I learnt a lot over Zoom, but I know being in person would have been more enthralling.

Advice

Be confident about yourself as an employee. You might be a little lost in the beginning, but don't hesitate to ask for help. People are always there to assist you, and there is a reason why they chose you!

General/Sales Intern

January - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I really loved the community at FilmNation. Everyone was really supportive and because of the open floor plan in the office, I was able to interact and talk to a lot of different people and really learn about the industry. It really opened my eyes to all the possibilities, especially as this was my first internship.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have stayed longer, and I wish I could have been paid. Otherwise, it was a great first internship experience and I am forever grateful.

Advice

Be a sponge! There is so much to learn, and it's best to keep your ears open.
