Server

July - September 2018 • Louisville, KY

What I liked

I loved that how much money I made each day directly correlated to the amount of work that I put in. I also really enjoyed meeting new people and having a summer not worried about being pre-professional. It was really nice to just enjoy summer and actually make some money, instead of doing some research grant that only really pays for rent and food for a summer. I also loved the breakfast hours, as I was usually out of there by 3pm and had the rest of my day free.

What I wish was different

Nothing!

Advice

Don't be embarrassed about not having an internship or a research job lined up for a summer. I think that the school year is strenuous enough, and there's nothing wrong with having a simple summer, making some money, and enjoying your free time!

Dish washer

June 2018 • Glendale, AZ

What I liked

I liked that the work was straightforward and easy to learn

What I wish was different

I wish that there was time for a break of any kind, that the coworkers were more respectful, that closing wasn't left to just the dishwashers, etc.

Advice

I would say that if a person feels uncomfortable he/she should definitely say something, rather than just deciding to leave, because people should be held responsible for how they treat women in the work place.
