Accounting Intern

June - August 2022 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I liked how it was real work, something that a junior accounting associate would do in industry. They went at your pace, did not overwhelm you and had a very strong sense of wanting you to learn. The people I got to know were also so very nice and I regretted not being able to continue working with them during the semester.

What I wish was different

Wish I had more experience than just cash and was able to branch out to the revenue team and others. I also wished I had a little more to do, which was both a positive and a negative.

Advice

The people are great if you actually spend the time to get to know them. Expect the workload to be a little lighter than expected, but always make sure to reach out to people if you want to learn about a particular area or work on something in a section.

Assay Development Intern

June - August 2022 • Cambridge, MA

What I liked

There were many opportunities to learn from people across multiple departments in the company, and everyone there clearly cared about the company's mission and were very friendly to the interns. I did something different and learned something new every day and enjoyed it immensely. I was given independence and able to complete two projects to have something to show from my time with Foundation.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been longer so I could do more long-term projects.

Advice

If you are working in R&D, ask your manager beforehand if they have any resources you could look at before the internship starts. It is a steep learning curve, but once you understand the workflows the SOPs are easy to follow.
