I got to make a lot of connections with veterinarians at Hagyard. I also was able to form a lifelong relationship with the vet I was paired with. I got to see some really cool farms and work with amazing horses. I greatly expanded my career network and confirmed that I do want to pursue veterinary school.
What I wish was different
Advice
This is a physically and mentally challenging internship, but if you're willing to put in hard work you'll get a lot back in return!.

What I liked
I got to learn a lot about the care of horses at an equine hospital as well as observe surgeries and help with the care of horses in the medicine unit.
What I wish was different
I wish I had gotten to spend more time at each of the rotations to get a more in depth experience.
Advice
No one is going to hold your hand through internships or externships to show you how everything works, you have to be proactive about figuring everything out and asking what you can do to really get a hands on experience and make the most of your time.
