Engineering Assistant

August - December 2021 • Troy, OH

What I liked

I enjoyed ITW's portrayal of teamwork . It was very different and engaging and gave me a very good example of how an engineer and engineering team works together. Our weekly meetings kept each person on our team informed on everyone's progress and helped emphasize the importance of working together with questions like: Where are we at? What can we do? What do we think? This made me feel more welcomed to ask questions and take initiative to keep myself informed with anything that the team was assigned.

What I wish was different

Something that I am aware was out of their control that I wish was different was when the lab was renovated. It cut the amount of time I would spend in the lab testing which I came to really enjoy.

Advice

Prepare yourself to start a co-op or internship with a positive mindset. The experience is only as enjoyable as you make it for yourself. Co-workers can be very nice and help you adjust to the work environment, but at the end of the day your own attitude and willingness to open up to the experience is what determines the outcome.
