What I liked

At IMC Construction offices to not have doors. Employees are encouraged to cross departments and learn about how each team operates from top to bottom. There is a strong culture of professional growth. IMC pays for employees to earn certificates in hundreds of skills such as Construction Management, Python, Excel, Public Speaking etc. I was part of a relatively small department where I engaged in real impactful work.

What I wish was different

My internship was only 7 weeks. However, most other interns told me theirs were between 8 and 12 weeks.

Advice

At first I didn't take advantage of the open door policy, but later on realized that even the most senior people at the company were willing to have lunch and give me career advice. So I'd recommend being social and taking advantage of all the opportunities they give you to learn from mentors.

What I liked

The team was incredibly welcoming and consistently supportive, making each day a valuable learning experience. I had the opportunity to explore various departments at IMC, including HR, Marketing, Business Development, and Accounting. I gained insights from knowledgeable employees in each department, greatly enriching my understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more interactive time with the other Interns.

Advice

My biggest piece of advice to a future Intern at IMC would be don't be afraid to ask for more work and explore different opportunities within the company!

What I liked

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the culture of IMC. They build you up and give you opportunities to grow professionally and as an individual. I was able to contribute to my project team by doing meaningful tasks, and I received recognition for what I did. I loved interacting with the team, the other interns, and other IMC employees.

What I liked

A great working & learning environment built upon teamwork and trust. Even as a Co-Op, I played a large role in the everyday tasks of a project. Everyone there was willing to take the time to explain new concepts to me as well as assist me whenever needed. It was a great atmosphere to apply what I have learned in my classes to real-world scenarios, as well as push myself out of my comfort zone to learn new skills.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more interaction between the interns/Co-Op's. I got to work with another intern for a little bit on a project, and it was really cool for us to sit down together and work on challenging tasks and apply both of our backgrounds to find a solution.

Advice

You don't need to know everything, everyone at IMC is more than willing to have you on their team and teach you all that you need to know as long as you show them that you are committed to learning all that you can.

What I liked

I love the employees and how the company operates as one team and a family. Everyone looks after each other and no one lets you fail. This is truly a company you can grow and flourish at no matter which division you work in.

Advice

Never leave any stone un-turned, at IMC your growth is inevitable and ongoing. Here you become the best version of yourself and you have people around you who are passionate in what they do for a living. This environment has been one I will never forget and I look forward to my future with the company.
