Property Assistant

What I liked

I love this job because it's given me so much experience in contracting, and a look into what happens behind the scenes at sporting events! I knew I had always loved sports, and assumed it would be so laid back to work in sports but it's "go-go-go" all the time. The people I meet at my job are incredible, and everyone is so engaged with each other in the community. It's a great place to be if you're a people-person! Another thing I loved is that every day is always something slightly different. Since we're working a lot of different sports and games, there's always something new, and new people to engage with, so it always keeps me interested!

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had a little more training, but the whole sink or swim tactic definitely made me 100% more engaged. It really tested my ability to perform without direction. My bosses/ advisors are incredibly smart and helpful, but they expect the property assistants to perform with little guidance and to make educated decisions. I wasn't always sure if I was doing well, or if I was making the right decisions, but it did allow me to gain more confidence in myself and my actions and the things I was doing!

Advice

I would advise someone coming into this position to be ready for a whole lot of work. I knew it was long days of work but I didn't really realize what exactly I was diving into. Its taxing mentally and physically, but so rewarding in the long run!
