Indianapolis Colts

Marketing Intern

July - August 2018 • Indianapolis, IN

What I liked

I liked the work environment I was in. One of the main reasons that I wanted to do an internship out of state was to expand my knowledge base of different areas of the country. The people at work were much more friendly and outgoing than I had anticipated and that was encouraging. I felt at home at work which allowed me to work more comfortably and worry-free.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had gotten to stay for a longer period of time. I enjoyed my time with the Colts and 6 weeks flew by with them. I wanted to establish more relationships and get to know the market that I was in a little bit better. I also wish I had gotten to network a bit more, but I was at work to do a job not expand my personal web of contacts so I can't be too upset.

Advice

Be willing to be outside in the heat and willing to come out of your shell. The Colts are all about the community and the image that they hold in that community so they want to give off an inviting, friendly, and personable image to the community.

I liked the fact it was football and I was around the team and players every day working with them directly.

What I wish was different

I wish we would’ve been more successful on the field.

Advice

Working in sports is all about who you know/who you’re friends with. Get out and meet people in the jobs you would like to have. Utilize tools that allow you to connect with people who could help you.
