Kane County State's Attorney

Administrative Intern

May - August 2019 • Aurora, IL

What I liked

I liked the insight I was given into the professional realm, sitting in on trials, and seeing what a career as Attorney would look like. The access I was given to databases and case files were extremely interesting.

What I wish was different

For the amount of work I was doing, I would have appreciated compensation or a stipend.

Advice

Even if you do not think you are qualified, still seek out the position you want! I never thought I could have gotten an internship like that.

Courthouse internship

June - August 2018 • St. Charles, IL

What I liked

I was able to observe court and talk to the lawyers at the state attorneys office. I built relationships with the people around me and may have opened many possibilities for myself for the future.

What I wish was different

I did do a lot of office work which wasn't very fun but I was still able to learn the process of the court system and be a part of it.

Advice

I would say a very important aspect of the internship is to ask questions. Being afraid to talk to people really got in the way of learning everything i could have.
