The interaction with the kids. The amount of trainings and meetings available to learn from. How willing and flexible they were to help me gain career experience and learn about things I was interested in.
What I wish was different
I think stronger enforcement and clarity on the rules would be beneficial. Also, better communication between all parties.
Advice
Go in with good boundaries. Have strong boundaries to protect yourself and the youth. Take care of yourself as this is a high stress job and there are times when stepping away is what is best. You need to be able to care for yourself so that you can help the youth.
