KEYENCE Corporation of America

Technical Sales Representative

January 2024 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

-The in-depth training I received about the company, my product line and where it fits within the overall industrial ecosystem, and my target customer. -The investment that Keyence placed on my individual growth and the resources they gave me to be super confident out in the field. -The corporate philosophy of Keyence as an organization and how dedicated the whole organization is on sustainable, upwards growth. -The goals given to us are no-nonsense and clearly geared towards getting you to where you need to be.

What I wish was different

One more week of training at HQ would've been great! Keyence hires great people, and you'll definitely wish you stayed longer. Transitioning from being in 100% training mode to being in the sales office can present itself as a small shock to the system. Make sure to dedicate some time towards the end of training to making sure you have everything you need (as best you can) to hit the ground running.

Advice

Don't let your learning plateau after you come out of training; be curious, roll up your sleeves, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Technical Sales Enginee

June 2021 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

They offer an unparalleled training program. No matter which location you chose, you spend the summer training in your product line at the corporate headquarters in Itasca, IL (suburb of Chicago). They really invest in your success, and genuinely want you to succeed. I also like the freedom afforded to you. It's up to you how you want to schedule your week. Also, you get to sell some really cool products that are on the cutting edge of technology which is really neat. The compensation is generous, and you can do really well for yourself at Keyence.

What I wish was different

Nowhere is perfect, but there's nothing substantial I'd change.

Advice

Prepare and study for the interviews. It can be a difficult process, but if you put in the work you can really stand out. Beyond that, if you're motivated and work hard Keyence is a great fit.

Sales Engineer

June 2021 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

I currently have a full time job at Keyence in the Minneapolis, Minnesota office in our Application Sensor Division. For those who don't mind working hard, facing challenges head on, and interacting with new people every single day, this job: - Pays incredibly well for a first job out of college. - Promote from within corporate structure. - Comes with great benefits. - Offers incredible job security for a sales job. - Lets you create your own schedule 2-3 days out of the week. - Includes an amazing 2-3 month training pipeline unlike anything else in this industry.

What I wish was different

I wish I could've spent more time with the friends I made in my training class in Chicago. Again, I cannot overstate how amazing the people I met in my training class are.

Advice

Prepare for the multi stage interviews like you'd prepare for a test or exam in college. Keyence makes the interview process more difficult than most to ensure that you truly want it, and this directly correlates with the caliber of people you see once you get the job.

Vision Sales Engineer

July 2020 • Grand Rapids, MI

What I liked

The position lined up very well for me. It balances the engineering side of my background while still having the relational contact with clients that I am able to be a trusted consultant to them. I have had the knitty-gritty engineering interns and I've also had experience in sales running a contracting business. This is a great balance between those two sides that is the most rewarding to me. They also have a large amount of office locations to choose from as well as many different divisions to specialize in.

What I wish was different

The training you go through as a full-time hire in Chicago is invaluable and unlike any other companies on-boarding I've been with. I would love for this experience to go even longer as there is always something more to learn.

Advice

The technical knowledge will come with time, focus on relationship building techniques in a professional setting as well as effectively communicating from a consulting perspective to add value.

Technical Sales Engineering Intern

June - July 2019 • Itasca, IL

What I liked

I have been apart of 3 different internships and this one by far stands out the most. If you want to learn the necessary skills to become successful in inside or outside sales, this is the place to be. It is very hands on experience. Will not find an internship so well structured.

What I wish was different

I wish it was a longer internship experience. The internship is only a little over a month, but it still acts as a full summer internship. There is tons of knowledge to be gained.

Advice

You just be dedicated to be in sales. Must have confidence in the way you speak, give off positive attitudes, and truly be driven to close a deall! There is a lot of failure in sales, so be prepared yet continue to move forward!
