Software Engineer Intern

August 2020 • Edmond, OK

What I liked

The trust given to interns to contribute to the product from day 1, developing technical skills in front and backend web development as well as intentionally building relationships with people

What I wish was different

I wish that I had been able to put more time into the internship because I had to manage full-time college classes at the same time.

Advice

You only get as much as you put into it, so don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone as that's where you'll really learn the most.

NextGen Project Manager

May - August 2019 • Edmond, OK

What I liked

I loved the people I worked with! Everyone was so intentional about my growth and making sure that I left as a better leader. They also weren’t afraid to assign me to lead projects and grown in that way. They created a safe environment to take risks and also taught me to be ok if those risks fail.

What I wish was different

Advice

One piece of advice I learned was to take ownership of my own development. Many people can pour into you and give you amazing advice, but if you aren’t intentional about applying that wisdom or feedback then you will never grow. Also, if you aren’t intentional about seeking advice or growth then you may never surpass where you are now.

Volunteer

What I liked

I loved getting to volunteer and serve the guests, but to serve alongside the other leaders was just as rewarding.

Advice

Volunteer wherever you can, you can always find excuses but stepping up and doing something to grow and build your relationships with God and other people is an experience you will not regret. You can even volunteer on Life.Church online, wherever you are at in the world.
