What I liked

The highlight of my internship experience was being able to work on anything DEI-related! I enjoyed learning and listening to all the stories on race/ethnicity, gender, class, and abilities. And how much diversity there needs to be for all students and teachers to see and use. Definitely, an important aspect to add to any educational platform to create more diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What I wish was different

Not working remotely because it was challenging. The biggest challenge for me was being able to stay motivated while maintaining time management. Being remote definitely played a role with the work being independent most of the time and not having a productive environment compared to in-person work (I went to cafes and libraries to do work for a change of scenery which helped a lot). Also with most tasks being ongoing and assigned at the same time, I needed to make sure to prioritize each task while balancing it to make sure that all tasks were completed still. In other words, it kept me on my toes to maintain a good and productive workspace and mindset.

Advice

The most important thing I learned from this internship is quality over quantity. My first project was the transcript review and unfortunately, I made a mistake in my work by not taking my time and double-checking. But, overall I learned how much work it can be creating content and development for LW, which goes to show how impactful students and teachers will take out of their time using this platform.
