My supervisor was sooo awesome--very flexible, so fun to work with, encouraging, and helpful. The staff as a whole was also really kind and welcoming and made sure I knew they cared about me. I also enjoyed a lot of the projects I got to work on and as a result, I gained bunch of great portfolio pieces.
What I wish was different
I wish COVID wasn't a thing so I could've gone to the office and spent a little time there. I did my entire internship remotely which was a bummer.
Advice
When working remotely, it is really important to make a time schedule for yourself because it is very easy to get off task when not in an office.

Program Manager Assistant
June - August 2020 • Bluffton, IN
What I liked
I loved being able to take part in the day-to-day activities of Loving Shepherd to see what their Program Manager does each day. I gained real-world, real-time, hands-on experience for a job that is almost exactly what I want to do in the future.
What I wish was different
I wish they had been a little more prepared for me so they could give me more tasks each day once I had observed what I was schedule to observe. I would have liked to have helped out more in the beginning. But because of them allowing me to use my creative freedom in coming up with a pilot program about two weeks in, and due to COVID-19, I still think the whole experience was phenomenal!
Advice
I would advise others to be open to not having a schedule, daily set work expectations, etc. This was the most flexible job position I had ever been in, and at times I really missed having some structure. But it was worth it because I was challenged adapt, change my plans, and keep my head on the fly, which are invaluable skills for any industry.
