Doing an internship abroad is one of the most enriching experiences I have had, and I would highly recommend it.

What I liked

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Lynk. Working at Lynk helped me to shape my global perspective on business. My time with the company also helped me to broaden my network and strengthen my professional development. Through my mentors and colleagues, I learned about many different industries, had personal conversations with experienced executives, and gained many hard and soft skills. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work at Lynk.

What I wish was different

I wish I'd started learning about all of the teams earlier in my internship. For example, I worked with the Client Solutions team but by the end of the summer, I was able to learn a lot about the finance and tech teams as well. Had I started earlier, I likely could have explored every team in the company.

Advice

My one piece of advice would be to get to know people in all of the teams and in all of the office locations. I worked in the Hong Kong office, had a mentor in the Singapore office, collaborated with a team in the Mumbai office, and had virtual coffee chats with colleagues in New York. This company is truly global. Incoming interns can get the most out of the experience by being unafraid to reach out regardless of location or titles.
