The Madison County Council of Governments (MCCOG) is a cooperative, regional planning organization and the federally-designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Anderson, Indiana region located just 30-minutes northeast of Indianapolis. The MCCOG region provides a unique cross-section of issues from communities seeing substantial population growth from the Indianapolis region to urban environments with redevelopment opportunities recovering from significant manufacturing job losses to rural communities facing out-migration.
The primary purpose of MCCOG is to increase communication, cooperation, and coordination among local governments in planning and implementing programs to meet individual and mutual community challenges. In addition to the federally-designated transportation planning requirements for MPOs, MCCOG provides full-service technical assistance to local units of government in the region. As a small MPO, MCCOG has developed and utilizes state-of-the-art tools for design, analysis, and forecasting activities and is an active participant in improving national best practices.
