What I liked
The experience of doing research in a graduate environment was important in giving me insight into how graduate school looks like.
What I wish was different
Typically REU programs plan more events, such as professional development or social activities with the other REU researchers. This program had none of that.
Advice
Plan your own activities. This experience is what you make it, and I enjoyed being in lab a lot. However, the experience outside of lab was memorable as well. Plan activities with the other REU students, and get to know them.
