Omaha Storm Chasers

Gameday Intern

April - September 2019 • Papillion, NE

What I liked

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the ballpark. I’ve been a fan of baseball since I was a kid and being able to work every single game and help make the games an enjoyable experience for fans was very rewarding. I also liked how much they do for the community, they raised money for the Ronald McDonald House in Omaha and would regularly volunteer around the city.

What I wish was different

I wish that the interns had been given more opportunities to work in the office instead of just doing things like promotional team, ticket selling, etc. They did not utilize our knowledge and ideas in ways that they could have. We had a lot of good ideas on how to make the park better and they were not really receptive to our ideas.

There were a lot of days where it was very a frustrating job and I wanted to give up. Despite feeling like that I stuck to the job and tried my hardest and the realization that you’re making the games more fun for families and their children is an amazing feeling. So even when you are not having the greatest time in your job or internship, you should think about that what you’re doing is bigger than yourself.
