Nanny

May - August 2018 • Emporia, KS

What I liked

As a future teacher, it allowed me to continue to be around children the whole year, instead of just when school is in session. I was responsible for the well-being of 2 young elementary school children during the day and some overnights. I also go to see them grow and learn techniques on behavior management for my future classroom.

What I wish was different

I wish I had opportunities to get them out of the house and with other children. Based on the city that we were in, there were not many opportunities for that to happen.

Advice

I would tell other people looking at nannying that it can be very stressful, especially is you are left along with them while the parents are out of town for a few days. Make sure that you have the parents and close relatives phone numbers on hand in case something happens.

Nanny

May 2018 • Marblehead, MA

What I liked

I liked building a relationship with the children and their family. I eventually felt apart of the family since I was so involved.

What I wish was different

I wish I had the same schedule every week.

Advice

I would advise other nannies to take on the role of being the children’s mentor and always doing what’s best for the child, even if they don’t think it is the best for them.
