Quality Engineering Intern

What I liked

Lots of interaction everyday with the operators on the floor, as well as engineers in the office. Great experience and an even better environment to work in!

Advice

If you do take this Co-op it is ran great, but know that you are an intern. Lots of people at Parker Hannifin Sporlan have been working here for decades. Be respectful and realize that the operators most likely know more about the parts they have worked on for 20+ years than you do.

Product Engineering Intern

May 2017 • Golden Valley, MN

What I liked

It was a friendly work environment in that it was easy to talk to management, engineers, sales, etc. As an intern, I could always find something to work on and I found I learned most when engaging with other engineers. At Parker, you can gain experience in a number of areas (CAD, lab, customer interface, pricing, etc.). Overall, I had a fantastic time at Parker.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been given more important tasks earlier in my internship.

Advice

I know I've already said, but going around and asking questions-in person- was the best way to learn.

QA co-op

What I liked

Learning Quality from an engineering perspective and its impact on industry.

What I wish was different

Nothing. I loved everything about it.

Advice

Take your time to learn the procedures of a new job, and how your education can be employed to impact it. For example, I am mechanical, and dealt with gauging of company product -- my mechanical background help me design and employ procedures to measure theoretical points within a product.

Process Engineer Intern

January 2018 • Mason, MI

What I liked

I work at a manufacturing plant, so I have a desk and will do work on the computer, but there are physical things that need doing in the plant so I can get up and walk around and talk to operators as well.

What I wish was different

I would like to work in more areas of the plant.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and not just ask your boss. Everyone is there because they know something about something. Speak up if you aren’t sure how to complete a task.
